RS/tRNA Additional Notes
Works ~20-fold better on pAzF than Phe. Used for whole organism and tissue specific "BONCAT" proteomics studies in live C elegans. pAzF was not taken up by C elegans from the media, but was provided by feeding the worms with an E coli Phe auxotroph (KY14) that had Thr251GlyEcRS (the E coli equivalent of the Ce RS mutant) to incorporate pAzF replacing Phe at an ~50% level. Also showed equivalent Thr->Gly mutant in yeast, drosophila, zebrafish, and mouse PheRS led to incorporation of pAzF. The change in the human PheRS functioned only very little.
